We are currently working to relocate residents to one of our sister communities–Autumn Leaves, Monticello West, Parkwood Healthcare and Signature Pointe–who will support their needs while we work to make repairs at the Community. We will be reaching out to primary contact family members to update you on the status of these transfers. Thank you for your support and patience.

February 17, 2021

I want to provide you with an update regarding the status of Walnut Place and the residents. When we lost power earlier this week our focus was on ensuring that all of the residents were safe and warm. Although we do have generators for emergencies, they are designed for short-term primary functions like common area lighting and powering emergency medical equipment. They are not meant to provide power to every outlet nor can they support the individual heating units in the apartments.

On Monday evening, the news was reporting extended outages. When we realized that power was not going to be restored in a timely manner, we made the proactive decision to find temporary housing for all of our residents. Staff members quickly went into action to support the nearly 200 residents at Walnut Place. Their wellbeing was our primary concern.

Everyone worked diligently to find temporary housing for your loved one. Many senior living communities have been impacted and were needing to find a solution for their residents. The task was great. Not only did we need to find an available suite or apartment, in many cases for those needing health care we needed to arrange for staff to be allocated to support the communities where the residents were being transferred to.

We experienced recording breaking temperatures, and without power our pipes were compromised. Like hundreds of others in the area, we have frozen pipes. At this time, we do not know the extent of the damage. We need to assess the situation before your loved one can return.

Our current focus is to move our residents to one of our sister communities closer to Walnut Place. We are working with the executive directors to find placement at Autumn Leaves, Monticello West, Parkwood Healthcare and Signature Pointe. We will be communicating directly with you when we identify our plan for your feedback. You can take comfort knowing that our staff will be reassigned to these communities to serve as a familiar caregiver.

We value the trust you have placed with us to care for your loved one. Please feel confident that we are working to get your loved one settled into one of our sister communities.

Thank you for your support! We will keep you informed of updates as they become available. We look forward to the day when we can safely resume community life again.

If you have questions about your loved one, please call/text or email Camille, Maria or Elizabeth.
